What to get right on a tutor and lesson teacher quotation
- Quote by the month or the term rather than by the session, and say how many sessions that covers.
- Write down the cancellation rule: how much notice a parent must give, and whether a missed lesson is rescheduled or lost.
- If you travel to the student, show transport as its own line so your lesson rate stays comparable.
Questions people ask
Should parents pay before the term starts?
Most tutors take the month or the term in advance. Put the payment date on the quotation and make the first session conditional on it.
How do I quote for a group of students?
Quote a rate per student and a minimum group size. If one student drops out, the rate for the rest is already agreed.
Can I quote for exam results?
Quote for the teaching, not the grade. Commit to the number of sessions and the material covered; results depend on more than the tutor.
