Questions people ask
- Is a payslip required by law in Nigeria?
- The Labour Act requires an employer to give a written statement of wages and deductions. A payslip is how that is normally done, and employees increasingly need one for loans, visas and rent applications.
- What must a Nigerian payslip show?
- The employer and employee, the pay period, each element of pay, each deduction shown separately, and the net amount paid. Showing PAYE and pension as their own lines matters, because the employee needs those figures for their own return.
- Does this calculate PAYE for me?
- It offers a figure from the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 bands based on the annualised gross you have entered, which you can accept or overwrite. It is a check on your payroll, not a replacement for it.
- Is the payslip stored anywhere?
- No. The PDF is built in your browser and never leaves your device. Your employer details are remembered on this device only so a monthly run is not retyped.
- Can I use it for several employees?
- Yes, one at a time. Your employer details stay filled in, so each additional payslip only needs the employee and the figures.
- What is the difference between gross and net pay?
- Gross is everything earned before anything is taken off: basic, housing, transport, overtime and bonuses. Net is what reaches the bank after PAYE, pension and any other deduction. The payslip must show both, and the arithmetic between them.
