What to get right on a photographer invoice
- Include the event date and venue. Clients file the invoice by event, not by invoice number.
- Separate the shoot fee from prints and albums. Prints are goods and can attract 2% WHT from corporate clients, services 5%.
- Put your delivery timeline on the invoice so 'when are my pictures ready' has a written answer.
Questions people ask
Do photographers charge VAT?
Above the ₦50 million threshold, yes at 7.5%. Most independent photographers are below it.
How much deposit should I ask for?
A 50% to 70% booking deposit is normal for weddings. Use the proforma generator for it.
What about travel outside Lagos?
Add travel and accommodation as separate lines with receipts, or agree a flat travel fee.
