How to invoice in Qatar: what to include

The fields a Qatar invoice needs, how to number and date it, when to show VAT, the e-invoicing rules, and how to fix a mistake with a credit note.

  • QR QAR
  • VAT
  • Tax card number
  • A4
  • English

What every invoice must show

  • The company's registered name, its legal form, its head office and its commercial registration number, required by article 16 of the Commercial Companies Law.
  • Its share capital and the paid-up amount, for every form except a joint liability company or a limited partnership.
  • The invoice number and date, a description and quantity, and the amount payable, since the accounts behind them must satisfy the record-keeping duty in the Income Tax Law.
  • Qatar has no VAT act, so there is no tax invoice wording, no VAT number and no VAT breakdown to show. In practice the tax card number appears where a customer needs it for withholding tax.

Electronic invoicing in Qatar

Not yet mandatory. The Council of Ministers approved a draft e-invoicing law and its regulations on 6 May 2026, but as of September 2026 nothing has been gazetted, no scope or format has been published, and no start date has been confirmed.
