The rules in Qatar
- Payable after 1 year of continuous service.
- Calculated on basic wage only, not on allowances.
- A day's wage is the monthly wage divided by 30.
- Set by Law 14/2004, article 54.
Worth knowing
Three weeks of the last basic wage for every year, with no change after five years, unlike the UAE. An employer running a retirement scheme worth more owes the scheme benefit instead, and the worker may choose (article 56).
