When a quote or proforma has legal weight
A quotation is not tied to a special form in the UAE, but the price it states carries weight under consumer law. The Consumer Protection Law (Federal Law No. 15 of 2020, amended by Federal Decree-Law No. 5 of 2023) protects the consumer's right to obtain goods and services at the declared price, and applies on the mainland and in free zones. A supplier that advertises a misleading price or gives false data faces up to two years in prison and a fine of up to AED 2 million. Quote a final price for consumers and keep the written offer.
