Issuing a valid invoice here

A registrant making a taxable supply issues an original tax invoice and delivers it to the customer (Article 65, VAT Law), normally within 14 days of the date of supply (Article 67). A simplified tax invoice still needs the words "Tax Invoice", the supplier's name, address and TRN, the issue date, a description of the goods or services, and the total consideration with the tax charged (Executive Regulation, Article 59(2)).

Electronic invoices are allowed today if the business can store a copy securely and guarantee authenticity of origin and integrity of content. The separate e-invoicing system under Ministerial Decisions 243 and 244 of 2025 defines an Electronic Invoice as one issued and received in a structured format that software can process automatically, sent through an Accredited Service Provider within 14 days of the transaction. Business-to-consumer sales are outside the system for now.

Voluntary use began on 1 July 2026. A business with revenue under AED 50 million appoints its provider by 31 March 2027 and goes live on 1 July 2027.
