Issuing a valid invoice here

Singapore has no government invoicing portal and no fiscal device. A GST-registered business issues its own invoices from its own software, and a PDF or other electronic tax invoice is valid if it carries the required particulars. No approval from IRAS is needed to issue tax invoices electronically, but the record-keeping rules still apply.

InvoiceNow is a reporting layer on top of that. The business asks its InvoiceNow-Ready software provider or an accredited Access Point Provider to register it in the SG Peppol Directory under its UEN, then switches on the feature that sends a copy of invoice data to IRAS. Onboarding can take as little as three months, and most businesses finish within a year.

The data covers transactions reported in the GST return: standard-rated, zero-rated and exempt sales and purchases, taken from tax invoices, simplified tax invoices, serially numbered receipts, debit notes and credit notes. Deemed supplies, reverse-charge transactions, exempt financial services and import permits are left out. The data is due by the earlier of the day the GST return is filed and its filing due date.

Support: a S$1,000 GST InvoiceNow Transition Grant for businesses with annual supplies up to S$4,000,000, and free-of-charge solution packages listed by IRAS up to 31 March 2031.
