Price rules that affect your markup
Maximum mark-ups apply to a list of basic goods under the Control of Supplies and Services (Maximum Wholesale and Retail Mark-up) Order, 2026 (S.I. 8 of 2026, made 6 March 2026 for one year from commencement). The wholesale and the retail mark-up are each capped at 15 % for dry goods and 18 % for perishable and cold goods.
Dry goods covered include lentils, salt, sugar, sunflower oil, rice, flour, pasta, juice, tea, cereal, biscuits, toilet paper, diapers, baby wipes and dishwashing paste. Perishable and cold goods covered include potatoes, onions, oranges, apples, garlic, sausages, yoghurt, margarine and milk.
The wholesale mark-up is taken after customs clearance or the ex-works price of local production, and the retail mark-up is applied to the price declared on the wholesale invoice. Breaking the Order is an offence with a level 2 fine, and sellers must show their books on request to an enforcement unit drawn from SRC Customs, the Fair Trading Commission and the Seychelles Licensing Authority.
