What the TIN is
The TIN is the number Seychelles Revenue Commission assigns to a taxpayer in Seychelles. It follows you across every tax you deal with: VAT, income tax and withholding. Businesses that pay you will ask for it before they release payment, because they report their suppliers to Seychelles Revenue Commission by this number.
Who needs one
Every business that starts trading must register with the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) within 28 days and receives a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). Employers must also register each employee within 7 days of the start of employment.
How to register, step by step
- Open the SRC Tax Portal (TMS) and start a new business registration.
- Provide a national ID card or passport, a copy of the licence issued by the licensing authority, the partnership or company registration certificate from the Registrar of Companies, and the details of a tax agent if one is used.
- SRC reviews the application and its documents, and allocates the TIN within 24 hours when the registration is complete.
Documents, cost and how long it takes
To obtain a TIN, the business registers with the SRC and supplies a national ID card or passport, a copy of its licence from the licensing authority, the partnership or company registration certificate from the Registrar of Companies, and details of a tax agent where one acts. Employees of a new business must be registered within 7 days of starting work. The SRC states it allocates the TIN within 24 hours once the registration is complete and successful.
