Who can list in Canada, and how we check

Canada has no national CPA register: the designation is granted by each provincial body. In British Columbia, CPABC's directory shows both membership and whether you are licensed for public practice, while CPA Alberta has separate tools for members, firms and professional corporations. We have not yet researched Ontario, Quebec or the other provinces, so if you are registered there we ask which body you belong to and check its own directory.

Questions accountants ask

How do you check CPA Canada, CPABC or CPA Alberta membership?
There is no single national CPA register, so we ask which provincial CPA body you belong to and check you in that body's own directory. CPABC's public directory shows whether you are a CPA member and whether you are licensed for public practice. CPA Alberta has separate public tools to verify a member and a firm, which we use for Alberta applicants. We repeat the check every 12 months.
