Writing amounts in words here
Under section 27(2) of the Bills of Exchange Act, where the sum payable by a bill is written in words and also in figures and the two differ, the sum denoted by the words is the amount payable.
A cheque is a bill of exchange drawn on a bank and payable on demand (section 165(1)), so the same rule governs cheques. Write the amount in both words and figures, and make sure the words are exact.
