Price rules that affect your markup
No standing maximum price or regulated margin was verified as currently in force. The Consumer Protection Law (Law No. 35 of 2012) works through display and anti-manipulation rules instead.
Under Article 5 a supplier must advertise product prices following a Minister's resolution, and a consumer may demand a dated invoice showing the product, price and any warranty. Under Article 7 an invoice may not carry wording such as no return or no exchange. Breaching Articles 3 to 9 is punishable by a fine of up to BD 10,000 (Article 20).
Article 13 prohibits agreements that manipulate prices up or down without justification or that withhold goods from the market, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to BD 5,000 (Article 21). In a crisis the Minister may take temporary measures against unusual price rises for necessary goods (Article 15).
