The rules in Bahrain
- No minimum service period.
- Calculated on wage, not on basic wage alone.
- A day's wage is the monthly wage divided by 30.
- Set by Law 36/2012, article 116.
Who this covers
Only a worker not subject to the Social Insurance Law. Since March 2024 employers pay expatriate end-of-service into the SIO monthly, so for most workers this article no longer produces a lump sum from the employer.
Worth knowing
Half a month's wage for each of the first three years and a full month after, on wage rather than basic wage. Check your SIO status before relying on this figure.
Questions people ask
- Is this the amount I am owed?
- It is what the statute produces for the service you entered. Your contract or a collective agreement may give you more, and many employers do. The statutory figure is a floor, not a ceiling.
- Which wage do I put in?
- The one the law names, which is shown above the calculator and is rarely your total pay. Several countries calculate on basic wage alone, so allowances are left out and the payment is smaller than people expect.
- Does resigning reduce what I get?
- It depends on the country and the answer has changed recently in more than one. Where a reduction applies it is shown on this page. Where the current law contains none, this page says so, even though older calculators elsewhere may still apply an old rule.
- Do part years count?
- Usually yes, but how differs. Some countries pay the exact fraction of a year worked; others round a part year up once it passes six months. The calculation above uses the rule for this country and shows the years it counted.
- Is this taxed?
- That depends on your country and often on the amount, and this page does not calculate tax. Check the treatment before you assume the whole figure reaches you.
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type here leaves your device, and nothing is logged.
