The currency is the Bahraini dinar, divided into fils, and the NBR guidance on VAT invoices speaks of amounts in dinars with fractions of a fils.
Under Article 354 of the Commercial Law (Decree-Law No. 7 of 1987), if the amount of a bill of exchange is written in both words and figures, the words prevail when they differ; if the amount is written several times, the lower amount prevails. Article 446 applies the bill of exchange rules to cheques so far as they fit, and Article 447 requires the word cheque to be written on the instrument in the language it is drawn in.
Government tenders must state prices in Bahraini dinars in words and figures, and any correction is rewritten in words and figures and signed (Decree No. 37 of 2002, Article 42).
