Issuing a valid invoice here
A GST-registered business issues a tax invoice for a taxable sale above $82.50, and has 28 days to supply one if the customer asks. Send it by post, email, accounting software or in person; a PDF by email is a normal and valid way to deliver it, and the Peppol e-invoicing network is an optional extra for business customers.
A business that is not registered for GST issues an ordinary invoice and must never label it a tax invoice. Nothing in law forces a number on an ordinary invoice, but the official small business guidance recommends a unique invoice number, the issue date, contact details, a description of what was sold and the payment terms.
If a tax invoice is wrong, the fix is to replace it with a complete and correct tax invoice rather than amend the original by hand. Keep a copy of every invoice issued, in print or electronically, because it supports the BAS.
