The Bank of South Sudan states that the Bank of South Sudan (Amendment) Act 2023 changed the official name of the currency from the South Sudanese Pound to the South Sudan Pound, abbreviated SSP, and banknotes issued from 2024 carry the new name. Write amounts as, for example, "fifty South Sudan Pounds".
The pound is divided into piasters. The Bank of South Sudan lists coins of 10, 20 and 50 piasters alongside a 2 pound coin and notes from 1 pound upward, so a sum with a fractional part is written with piasters, for example "two South Sudan Pounds and fifty piasters".
