Issuing a valid invoice here
A VAT-registered business must issue a tax invoice and keep a copy immediately when the tax liability arises, and hand the invoice to the buyer (Revenue Code s.86). Each place of business issues its own invoices unless the Director-General has approved otherwise. One invoice may cover several sales or services, unless the Director-General requires certain goods or services to be invoiced separately (s.86/4).
Retailers that sell small amounts to many customers can be prescribed by the Director-General as retail businesses. Their shelf prices must then include VAT, and they may issue an abbreviated tax invoice (s.86/6); an agent may not issue one for them. Shops that use a cash register need approval on form ภ.พ.06, listed in the Revenue Department's VAT approval menu.
An invoice issued through an agent is allowed only under the rules, procedure and conditions the Director-General sets (s.86). The practical order is: register for VAT and obtain the ภ.พ.20 certificate, set up a numbering series per place of business, issue each invoice at the time of sale, and keep every copy for the retention period.
