Price rules that affect your markup
Korea has no standing maximum prices. The Price Stabilization Act (물가안정에 관한 법률) allows the Government to set price ceilings on important commodities, real-estate rent or service charges only for stated emergencies such as natural disasters or economic crisis (Art. 2), and it must lift them without delay once the grounds end. Anyone who trades above a ceiling and profits can be made to pay a penalty surcharge equal to the actual price minus the ceiling (Art. 2-2).
Art. 3 allows the competent Minister or a city or provincial head to order sellers of named goods and services to display prices, where this is needed to protect consumers or fair trade. Art. 7 prohibits cornering and hoarding goods designated by the Minister of Economy and Finance.
