Writing amounts in words here
On a bank cheque (assegno bancario), art. 9 of Regio Decreto 21 dicembre 1933, n. 1736 settles any mismatch: if the sum is written in both words and figures, the cheque is valid for the sum in words. If the sum is written more than once in words, or more than once in figures, the cheque is valid for the smaller amount.
For that reason the amount in words should be written once, in full, and match the figures exactly.
