What the labour law requires on a payslip
Article 53(2) of Government Regulation 36/2021 on Wages requires the employer to give each worker proof of wage payment showing the breakdown of the wages received, at the time the wages are paid. Article 54 requires payment in rupiah and in full for each period. Wages may be paid daily, weekly or monthly, and the payment interval may not exceed one month (Article 55). Payment may be in cash or through a bank, but must be cashable on the agreed pay date (Article 57).
Deductions are limited. An employer may deduct fines, compensation, wage advances, rent of company property or housing, debts or instalments, and wage overpayments (Article 63(1)). Rent and debt deductions need written agreement (Article 63(3)). Total deductions may not exceed 50% of each wage payment (Article 65). A deduction for a third party needs a power of attorney from the worker, which the worker can withdraw at any time, except for payments owed to the state or social-security contributions (Article 64).
