Price rules that affect your markup
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) sets maximum (cap) retail prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene on the Tanzania Mainland. EWURA publishes new caps periodically; the October 2026 caps took effect at 12:01 am on Wednesday 7 October 2026. A buyer charged more than the cap can lodge a complaint with EWURA.
Fuel retailers must issue a receipt for every sale from an Electronic Fiscal Pump Printer (EFPP). It shows the station name, date, fuel type and price per litre, and EWURA tells consumers to demand and keep it as evidence for any complaint about price or fuel quality.
No general price controls on other goods were found in current official sources.
