The rules in Nepal
- Overtime starts after 48 hours a week.
- Overtime starts after 8 hours a day.
- Limit: 4 hours a day, 24 a week.
- The rate applies to basic wage only, not to allowances.
- Set by Labour Act 2074 (2017) ss. 28, 30, 31.
Worth knowing
The multiplier applies to basic remuneration rather than to total pay. Rest day and public holiday work is treated as overtime and carries the same rate.
