When a quote or proforma has legal weight
A quotation has formal weight when a business sells to a government ministry. The Government of Lesotho's supplier payment checklist says a claim above M30,000 must have five quotations attached, together with five relevant licences and five tax certificates. Above M150,000 the claim needs a valid tender approval or waiver, a valid contract or agreement, and a copy of the goods received note.
Every claim also needs an approved requisition, a valid purchase order with a signed delivery note, copies of the supplier's trader's licence and tax clearance certificate, banking details and a letter from the ministry's Chief Accounting Officer. The government lists this service as free, with a stated processing time of 25 days.
