Writing amounts in words here

The Central Bank of Jordan lists the circulating coins as the dinar, half dinar and quarter dinar, and ten, five, two and a half, one and half qirsh. Amounts on invoices, cheques and contracts are therefore spelled out as dinars and qirsh (the Arabic plural is qurush).

When the words and the figures differ, Article 129(1) of the Commercial Law No. 12 of 1966 gives priority to the words for a bill of exchange, and Article 129(2) gives priority to the smallest amount if the sum is written more than once in words or more than once in figures. The cheque chapter (Article 228 onwards) requires the word "cheque" in the body of the instrument, in the language in which it is written, an unconditional order to pay a determined sum, the drawee, the place of payment, the date and place of issue and the drawer's signature. It borrows other bill-of-exchange articles by number but does not list Article 129, so writing the amount identically in words and figures is the safe practice on a cheque.
